Painting at VCU

hey this semester was my first time taking painting classes and i started off with the intermediate class. It lets you get to paint more of the stuff that you want to take. The beginning painting class you are just painting still lifes. My teacher Christine Grey taught us to use oil paints, so i guess the teachers still teach you things. it all depends what you want to spend your time on painting between the 2 classes. I wanted to start off with getting to paint the things i wanted. hope this helps

drswanson:

I was looking into taking some painting classes at VCU but saw that the 300 level and above classes start at the intermediate painting level. Painting definitely seems like a very interesting art form that I would like to learn better but I don’t know if starting out at the intermediate form is the right thing to do. Has anyone taking the painting classes here at VCU? I think I probably should practice on my own time with oils and then take the class next year. Who knows, we’ll see.
